The Boston Gem Laboratory is an independent professionally accredited appraisal organization providing appraisals of gems and jewelry. Our appraisers are trained by the Gemological Institute of America and the New England Society of Appraisers. The New England Society of Appraisers maintains a strict code of proffessional ethics and provides continuing education for members. The Boston Gem Laboratory appraisal services have been sought by leading New England jewelers, law firms, insurance adjusters and bank trust officers.

Appraisals prepared for insurance purposes constitutes the majority of all appraisals. It is a document prepared for your protection used by your insurance company to ascertain the replacement value should an article be lost, stolen or damaged. This appraisal reflects the average current market price incurred to replace or reproduce the item in new condition.
With Boston Gem Laboratory, jewelry items always remain in the customer's possession. At BGL we provide appraisals for insurance, estate and liquidation purposes.
